OKADA - The Vice – Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae has assured the general public that the policy of the university is to render qualitative education and good moral upbringing to the students in order to enable them contribute their own quotas to the development of the country.
Prof. Osaghae gave the assurance at a press conference towards the forthcoming Sixth Convocation Ceremonies of the Igbinedion University, coming up on November 27 and 29, 2008.
He said the ceremonies begin with the convocation lecture to be delivered by Dr. Gene Ogiogio of African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), Zimbabwe. The topic of the lecture is “Knowledge for Development in Nigeria Making the Transition to a Knowledge Society”, on November 27, 2008 at the university’s Auditorium.
The Vice - Chancellor further said the ceremonies would also features among other things, the award of prizes to deserving students and the conferment of the Igbinedion University Honorary Doctorate Degrees on three eminent and distinguished personalities who include, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hajiya Turai Umaru Yar’ Adua, the Governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda and Mr. Fidelis Ayebae, MD\ CEO, Fidson Pharmaceuticals Plc.
Prof. Osaghae added that a toral of 784 students of the university from the college of Health Sciences, Law, Business and Management Studies , Arts and Social Sciences, Engineering and Natural and Applied Sciences would be convoking during the occasion and the newly inducted set of Medical Doctors from the Oba Okunade Sijuade Medical College and the second set of graduating Engineers from General Abdul – Salaam College of Engineering of the university.
He then added that certificates to be issued include 12 First Class Honours, 176 Second Class Upper, 507 Second Class Lower and 47 Third Class degrees.
