ABUJA-Flying Eagles duo, Rabiu Ibrahim and Kennedy Eriba have vowed to destroy Sudan’s Under-20 national team tomorrow when the two sides meet at the Abuja National Stadium.
Ibrahim who got a brace in Sporting SAD of Portugal’s 5-0 whitewash of Athletic of Portugal in an Under-21 league championship on Saturday told KickOffNigeria.com that he is fit and ready for the match.
“Well with all modesty, I would say I am very ready for the match against Sudan. My coach praised my performance after I scored two goals in our match against Athletic which we won 5-0 on Saturday. I enjoyed the game and it has given me the confidence that I won’t disappoint in our match against Sudan tomorrow.
“Also with what I saw in the training, I think we are ready to take on the Sudanese team. We are aware of the fact that we must win well to make the return leg easy for us. I believe that my colleagues are hot and smokey for the match and I am also ready to contribute my quota to help Nigeria beat Sudan silly tomorrow. I promise I won’t disappoint.
“My club officials say they will come and watch the match and I can not just afford to fail,” Ibrahim said.
Newly signed on Anderlecht striker, Kennedy Eriba who arrived in the country with his father, Paul Eriba also sounded confident about Nigeria’s ability to beat Sudan silly tomorrow. He also disclosed that he was in top form and fit for the match.
“Football in Africa has really improved and there are no minnows in football again so we must not underrate Sudan come Saturday. We just have to work as a team. Some of my colleagues in this team have been playing together for a while now so I believe blending should not be a problem.
“Our coach (Ladan Bosso) has been tutoring us for a while now and he is blessed with the technical abilities to bring the best in us. I am really happy to be back in this team to play against Sudan,” Eriba disclosed to KickOffNigeria.com.
“I don’t think any of us can complain about the weather because it is even friendlier here than in Europe so I expect us to play better in Abuja,” he stated.
“Before coming for this match, I have been training very hard. Actually I have played three league matches already for Anderlecht and I can say I am 100 percent fit for this match. I scored two goals and had three assists for my club before travelling home for this match.
He picked the match against FC Westerloo as the match that brought out the best in him in the Belgian league.
“I would grab the opportunity with my full hands if coach Bosso gives me the opportunity to play on Saturday,” Eriba vowed.
