NBTE approves College of Health Technology in Ogun for NYSC scheme

 

 

ILESE-IJEBU (OGUN) -The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) had approved that the graduates of the College of Health Technology, Ilese-Ijebu, Ogun, be admitted into the NYSC scheme.


The Provost of the College, Dr Tunji Daodu, told newsmen in Ilese-Ijebu on Wednesday that the graduating students would be enrolled into the next batch of the NYSC.


Daodu explained that the approval was a major feat for the college, stressing that it would be the first time in the history of the college that its graduates would participate in the scheme.

 

He said more than 200 graduating students from the Department of Dental Technology, Dental Therapy, Environmental Health Technology and Public Health Nurses would participate in the scheme.


“The approval for the college graduating students to participate in the NYSC would serve as a big boost and source of encouragement for prospective students,’’ he said.


Daodu, who is also the Chairman of Provosts of Health Technology in Nigeria, said the college was approved for the scheme due to its transformation from a professional to an academic institution.


“We earned this approval from NBTE due to our transformation from a professional institution to an academic institution. The reason our students were not being allowed to participate in the scheme before now was because we were purely a professional institution.


“However, that has changed now because our students graduate with two certificates, they have academic certificates issued by the college and professional certificates issued by the professional body.


“And it is the academic nature of our courses as approved by NBTE and statutory regulatory body that entitled our students to henceforth, be participating in the scheme.
