There is a cry down here. You at the top, do you care to know whose voice it is? If you care, do you know the angle it is coming from? It’s concerning their ambitions, yes, youth ambitions are digging grave, they are about to be buried, what are you doing about this? The fear of failure had ravaged their surroundings.
Beyond debate, we will all agree that those on top today once started from their youthful age. I heard from someone saying that the people who influence your actions can invariably determine what your future will look like, if this is true, then I wonder what the future holds for the youths.
The youth had for too long been belittled and neglected. No one care about their ambition, instead, they are been prevented from achieving their goals, which are important to their youthful age. Their ambition to achieve their vision in life is declining gradually. Those on top wants to remain there and never care to come down to see what is happening to the future holders.
We regret to appear in a nation, where the youth have no say. Those with grey hair who have been ruling this nation since independence (1960) are taking the whole positions, leaving no space for the youth. Yet, we dreamt of a brand new Nigeria vision from 2015 now 2020 when we are still not ready to change our attitude toward governance.
Since every one seems to be silent, we the youth have something to say, Nigeria is our own and it should not be a lazy man’s company, we are praying for a better Nigeria together, we ought to be the major stakeholder in her development, in policy formulations and implementation, we serve Nigeria together. Yet, we are deprived of our benefits of taking our rightful positions.
We are concerned about this Country because it is our father’s land. If we have faith that Nigeria would be better without putting-in good for tomorrow, it simply means that all we had laboured for automatically becomes void. We need a better Nigeria which cannot be achieved without the youths, the youths are the leader of tomorrow and this is forever settled. The youth believes in the Nigeria project of any vision introduced and wants to be actively involved.
Many youths have lost their ambitions because of the situation and intimidating system of government and grand fathers. Some have been forced to turn their ambition to become touts, gangsters, armed robbers and wanderers. Nigeria has woefully lost great potential investors to these shameful practice, some of the World stars are roaming the streets every where, great scholars have ended up as mere peasant farmers. What a lost.
What am I saying? Just as it is that a nation can not do without the youth, so also the youth cannot do without the help of the nation. Show me a nation that has no youth, then I will show you a nation that has no future, this is why any nation or society to be wiped away, the main target would be to eliminate her youth because they are the existence of that nation or society.
If those who have been in position ever before we were born are still there, no one wants to leave and play advisory role in the nation building, when do the youth stand a chance? We all fought for the return of democracy in this Country Nigeria, those who are in power are still there either as a senators, House of Rep members, or in one position or the other.
Every year Nigeria’s higher institutions produced almost a million graduates without jobs for half of them and the only openings for them is still being occupied by their grand fathers, and it is possible that these youths have more ideas and solutions by which the nation can move forward and no one cares about them.
America’s election is an eye opener for the youths, Barrack Obama was able to win America’s election simply because of “change” that he was preaching. America needed a change not only from Republican to Democrat but in all ways, if senator John Mccain was to win America’s election, he would have been the oldest American president but because America needed a change, they voted for Barrack Obama massively even when he is from Africa, he becomes the first black and Africa-America to be president of America.
I can also says it is the same “change” that made people to vote for comrade Adams Oshiomhole but his mandates was stolen, thanks to the Judiciary that restored hope to the common man.
Kudos to Govs Oshiomhole, Fashola, Amaechi, and former Govs Donald Duke, Uzor Kalu, speaker Bankole, Rep. Samson Osagie, these people are in their youthful age and you can see the vibrancy in them. So the youth deserve a chance in the governance of this nation.
Yes, we the youth are demanding for our birthright, yet I mean we need more attention, we are coming to take over this Country one day, we are having the vision to correct all the mistakes and all the atrocities plaguing our nation, we are concerned about this, we will give no rest until we are given a voice.
The success of a man is not only on his achievement but also on his successor, when a wayward good-for-nothing son succeeds a father, do not expect me to tell you the end of that linage.
Our leaders are expecting much from the youth, they should be giving a chance now to show their talent in the governance of this nation, not stay too long in position.
To this end, the government should take up their responsibilities, we are still in the day where there is opportunity to work. Remember night comes when no man can work. The youth are ready to work to improve the governance of this nation and they also believe in the betterment of Nigeria and this can only be achieved by both the government and their co-operation.
Government should organize programmes like seminars in every local government and state to educate and sensitize them about their future roles in uplifting and sustaining the nation and also use such to hear from them to express their feelings about the Country. The government at all levels should know that they cannot succeed without carrying the youths along.
