EDHA holds valedictory session for former member

BENIN CITY - Edo State House of Assembly yesterday in Benin City held a valedictory session for Hon. Ajibola Airenkeoje Irerua, a former member of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly between 1979-1983, representing Owan Constituency.


Delivering a funeral oration, Hon. Fred Omoigberai (Owan East) described the late lawmaker as a great political leader, role model, idealist, a torch bearer, teacher, gifted orator, courageous man and a devout Christian that gave his life a meaning.


Also, Hon. Bright Omokhodion (Esan West) observed that the late Hon. Irerua championed the cause for the establishment of the defunct Bendel State University now Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, stressing that Hon. Irerua was a great politician, philosopher, motivator and communicator who projected the good image of the state and that he had not died but transited to eternity.


In his remark, a colleague of the late legislator, Hon. Prince Allan Omogbai said Hon. Irerua was an articulate member of the House and that he had left a mark, stressing that the 60 members of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly had maintained friendship over the years irrespective of the fact that membership of the House was made up of more than one party.


Highpoint of the session was special prayers for and filing past the remains of the late legislator by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Zakawanu Garuba, other serving and former lawmakers as well as members of the bereaved family.
