IDOGBO- The member representing Ikpoba/Okha constituency at the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Ise-Idehen has advised the chairman of the council area, Hon. (Mrs.) Itohan Osahon to make judicious use of the oil windfall accruing to the council.
Hon. Ise-Idehen who gave this advice when he paid a courtesy call on the council boss, urged the council helmsman to concentrate on provisions of amenities such as road construction with side drains, health facility and electrification which are products of the dividends, of democracy to the people of the area.
The lawmaker also advised the council boss to reflect in the next council budget provision of road construction as well as other social amenities.
Responding, the chairman of Ikpoba/Okha Local Government Council, Hon. Itohan Osahon thanked the lawmaker for the visit, irrespective of their political inclination, describing the Honourable member as a well focused man.
Stressing that the visit had demonstrated the commitment and love the lawmaker had for the people of Ikpoba/Okha, Hon. Osahon assured the Parliamentarian of a good working relationship with him for the upliftment of the local government area.
Earlier, Hon. Jude Ise-Idehen who also doubles as the chairman, public petitions and labour committee of the House, visited Presco Plc in Obaretin near Benin where he met the Director of Operations, Mr. Christopher Minguy and other management staff of the company.
Briefing the lawmaker, the Director of Operations, Mr. Christopher Minguy disclosed that the company had cordial working relationship with the host communities which he attributed to the provision of social amenities for the people of the area.
He enumerated the benefits derived from the company by the people to include establishment of school, construction of road as well as provision of potable water.
Mr. Minguy further noted that Presco, as part of its social responsibility to the host communities, awarded scholarship to students in the area to enable them study Accounting, Agriculture, Engineering and Economics at various tertiary institutions across the country, stating that the organisation had empowered a lot of people in the area by helping them set up Oil Palm farms with fertilizers to boost production.
Speaking earlier, Hon. Jude Ise-Idehen informed management of the organisation that there were a lot of complaints and petitions bothering on neglect by Presco from the people of the area to the House.
He, therefore, thanked the company for what it is doing even as he advised them on the need to improve on what they had done so far to avert youth restiveness in the council area.
