NOT too long ago, the Federal House of Representatives raised a Committee to probe the whopping sum of N5trillion so far channelled towards the development of the Niger-Delta. The terms of reference of the Committee include finding out the root cause of under-development in the Niger Delta region. The probe is also to establish why Multinational Oil Companies (MNCs) balkanize their host communities into that of the rich and affluent and the other signposting deep- seated poverty.
