Bauchi - Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State has revoked the contract for the renovation and upgrading of the Government Technical College, Gumau in Toro Local Government Area.
A statement issued and signed by Malam Aliyu Jibrin, the Acting Chairman of the
Technical Committee on Projects, said the governor approved the revocation over the contractor’s non-performance.
According to the statement, the contract was awarded on November 21, 2007, with a completion period of seven weeks.
Speaking with the Newsmen later, Jibrin said the consultants supervising the project had reported that the contractor was not serious.
He said the contract stipulated that the contractor should complete the project within seven weeks after he had received a 50 per cent payment but failed to perform.
According to him, the contractor was given the required seven days ultimatum for him to complete, but he failed to comply, hence the decision by government to invoke the revocation clause of the agreement.
Yuguda had inspected work at the project site in June, where he expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of work and advised the contractor to improve.
