Saraki Urges FG To Dualise 2 Roads

Ilorin - Kwara government has appealed to the Federal Government to consider the dualisation of Ilorin - Mokwa and Ilorin - Kabba roads as a matter of urgency in order to reduce carnage on those roads.

Governor Bukola Saraki, represented by his deputy,Chief Joel Ogundeji, made the appeal in Ilorin at the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) flag-off rally on ‘Ember Months’.
He said that dualisation of the two roads would go a long way to promote the nation’s economy.

The governor said dualising these roads would not only eliminate regular endless queues of vehicles and its consequential traffic hazards, but also boost economic activity.

“It will also go a long way to boost service delivery and reduce loss of man hour in transit in line with the Federal Government’s seven point agenda,” he said.

Saraki said the state government had taken some bold steps by initiating policies that were targeted at reducing road accidents.

According to him, since the state will continue to witness high level of human and vehicular movements during the festive period, government will continue to collaborate with the FRSC to enhance their performance.

He said that human sufferings and the attendant loss of lives and properties during the ember months and festive period were unacceptable to the government.

The governor said the campaign was vital and fundamental to remind all road users of the need to be safety conscious during the ‘ember months’ so as to reduce the carnage that usually characterised end of the year on our highways.
