Nwosu Slams Soccer Fans Over Amodu

LAGOS - Nigerians have been scolded for what has been termed an unfair estimation of the impact created by Super Eagles coach, Shaibu Amodu.

This is the pronouncement of ex-international, Henry Nwosu, captain of the then Green Eagles to Maroc ’88 Nations Cup, while reacting to the growing campaign to have Samson Siasia take over the senior national team.

Baring his mind during an interview with brilafm.net in Lagos, Nwosu described the campaign for Siasia as a distraction for the Eagles and urged Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to finally lay the issue to rest. “All this talk about replacing Amodu is not what we need at this point in time. Rather than put pressure on him, we need to lend suggestions and advice for his success.

“Let us all support him and give him the support that is needed to succeed. It’s full support that he needs, not distractions.

“He has already been able to get some good results, and needs kudos for that, not distractions. If at all we should talk about Siasia, it should be that we are suggesting for him to be brought in to support the crew, not to take over the team.

“It’s not fair on Amodu to talk about removing him. I am happy that the NFF have not said anything about removing Amodu, but they should also speak out and let us end this, issue” Nwosu stated.

The erstwhile player of defunct ACB of Lagos and former handler of Akwa United told your champions dial that Siasia is not that desperate for the job, but urged the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games silver winning gaffer to wait for his time.
