ABUJA-FIFA/CAF Instructor Adegboye Onigbinde has vowed to use his new appointment as the Nigeria Football Federation’s Technical Consultant to help develop the game in the country.
In a chat with KickOffNigeria.com shortly after his appointment was announced by the NFF on Friday, the football administrator confessed that the appointment was long overdue because he has been serving under that capacity without being formalized.
“Well, I have always been part of football administration in this country for several years. I don’t think there is much that is new about the appointment but the fact that the NFF are trying to formalize the process. I think it should be seen as a step forward.
“I have been talking about the development of football in the country and probably this will give us an opportunity to do more.
“We have the Technical Department of the NFF on ground. At least that is what they say. We want to see how this department would be properly established and made functional.
“As I have often said, the technical department is supposed to be the nerve center of a sports organization. This is why we want to concentrate on how to make it functional and FIFA, CAF and NFF statutes support this too.
“I want you to also take note of the fact that by this arrangement I am not a staff or employee of the NFF. I am just a consultant on technical matters,” Onigbinde told KickOffNigeria.com.
