IBADAN - Aspersion is now being cast in the political circle in Oyo State over the assassination of Mrs. Olabisi Ojetunde , a female-politician and loyalist of the late chieftain of the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] , Chief Lamidi Adedibu as former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has called on the State Police Command not to allow her death [Olabisi Ojetunde] to go the way of other unresolved political killings in the country.
Late Olabisi Ojetunde was one of those who attended a prayer session ending the mourning period for the widows of the late politician, organized by the most visible wife of the deceased Alhaja Bose Adedibu in her Molete residence last Sunday in memory of her husband whose 81st post-humous birthday was October 24, 2008.
It will be recalled that trouble started when some loyalists of the Deputy
Governor, Alhaji Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja, accused the late Ojetunde of insulting their mentor [Arapaja] she was about to be beaten when their host, Bose Adedibu intervened.
It was alleged that unknown to the deceased, when she left the premises she was trailed by some suspected thugs said to be loyal to the Deputy Governor [Arapaja] to Molete overhead bridge where she was beaten to a point of coma.
It was learnt that when Bose Adedibu was told of the attack on the woman she sent a rescue team to take her to hospital for treatment where the woman died three days later.
But on hearing the sad news at the crucial meeting of some PDP stalwarts attended by Alhaji Yekini Adeojo and Senator Lekan Balogun and others on Sunday at the Bodija residence of Sen. Ladoja , they called on the State Police Command to ensure that the killers were fished out and made to face the wrath of the law
This was the same call made by son of the late Adedibu, Senator Kamoru Adedibu, on the Oyo State Police Command to investigate and apprehend the killers for the purpose of bringing them to book.
The stalwarts that met in Ladoja’s place expressed worries on the security situation in the state which was said to be gradually becoming alarming after slight reprieve following the death of the Molete garrison commander with Ladoja emphatically saying that the dastardly act should not be allowed to be swept under the carpet, adding, ‘’ the people of the state are watching and monitoring the situation’’.
