BENIN CITY -The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa has called for an increase in the federal allocation to Edo State, saying this will create enough funds capable of improving the state in all spheres.

The Oba made the call when the Chairman of the Committee, Chief John Makili, led other members of the committee and commissioners, representing Edo State at the Federal Account Allocation Comåmittee, Chief Tom Uloko during a courtesy visit to the palace yesterday.

The Oba, however, said with the increase in the allocation of funds to the state, the government would be able to improve and develop the infrastructure for the benefit of the people.

Omo N’Oba then used the occasion to advise the Federal Government through the representative of Custom, Aliyu Musa Saidu, to always give out seized goods like textile materials, shoes and other goods to the orphanage homes and hospitals where these materials will be of help, instead of destroying them through burning.

Earlier in an address, Chief John Makili informed the Oba that they were in the state for a retreat to review the work of the committee in the past few years it had been in existence, adding that it would enable the committee to give report that would improve on the operation of the Federation Account.

He said what the committee does is that each month after the sharing of the revenue to the three tiers of government, the committee goes back to do the post mortem, try to see if there are short falls and try to advise government on the best way it could improve on its resources.

The chairman, then commended the Oba for the relative peace in the state and described the throne of the Oba as a symbol of peace, unity and development to the entire country.
