Govt. Should Work With BIO - Audu

Edo State Government has been enjoined to ask law enforcement agents in the state to work closely with the staff of Board of Internal Revenue, (BIO), in a bid to forestall the ugly malady of touts or agents issuing driving licence to applicant without undergoing the stipulated driving examination test.

Mr. Micheal Audu, the state licensing officer made this know while speaking with newsmen in his office recently.

He said, “The government should ask law enforcement agents to always work hand in hand with staff of BIO so that any person suspected to be tout would be arrested” Adding that, Now, that he is in his office he would not know what is happening outside, unless he his told by security agents.

Continuing, he said any motorist who process his or her driver’s license in Benin, but have Lagos state as issuer in the Identity card, should considered such driving licence as fake. stressing that, all original driving licenses process or done in Edo State always have Edo State written in the place of the issuer in the driving licence identity card.

Meanwhile, it would appear that, issuing driving licence to motorists without undergoing driving examination test among other factors, may be responsible for the concomitant rate of road traffic accidents occurring daily on our roads.

Information reaching WEEKEND OBSERVER indicate that, motorists plying our roads may not have undergone the stipulated driving examination test before they are given driving licence as such they drive recklessly because they don’t know the laws guarding driving.

Some motorists, as portrayed in their responses, indicated that, they may be very strange to the act of passing through driving examination test before an applicant should be issued driving licence.
