Xtians Urged To Develop Positive Attitude

ABUJA - Rev. Fr Lazarus Onuh, Associate Parish Priest, Holy Cross catholic Church Gwarinpa, has urged Christians to develop positive attitude to sufferings to develop the best in them.

Onuh told newsmen in an Interview that most Christians saw sufferings as an obstacle in Life.
“Christ sufferings for our salvation should be a leading symbol for all.

“Today’s Christian look for cross less life, not every suffering is from the evil one, any time we suffer, it is in line with the sufferings of Christ.

“We should study the persecution of many apostles of Christ and understand that every Christian must have the mind to suffer, especially when it comes as a challenge,” he said.

The cleric said it was unfortunate that parents who were to be the source of encouragement to the youths to experience sufferings in life and make history most times misdirect them.

“When most of our Children are posted to far places like Zamfara for NYSC, parents go to effect changes to places like Abuja, Lagos or other beautiful cities.

“Some go as far as paying people to sit for exams for their kids. This is immoral and an insult to the child and the society,” he said.

According to him, this attitude makes the youth not to be strong to face the challenges that will make them strong members of the society.

“Armed robbery, Pen robbery are all products of having negative attitude to sufferings. If we see sufferings in our life as training, it will go a long way to create change in the society.

“This is why the case of Nigeria is like the case of people sweating under rain.

We need to reflect on the sufferings of Christ and liken it to what we do to develop positive attitude to sufferings,’’ he added.
