BENIN CITY ––The Head Coach of rejuvenated Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin City Edema Fuludu has okayed the gradual development of the team ahead of the coming 2008/09 amateur Division 1 league.
The ex-international made the encouraging remark over the weekend after his club humbled Sharks of Port Harcourt 1-0 in a friendly encounter at their Iyeke-Ogba training ground in the state capital.
In a game that saw both sides displaying flashes of talent and skill, Coach Fuludu averred that the team has taken shape, but was quick to note that the cementing and filtering process of players to get the squad on sound footing will be in progress in the meantime. This, he said, is against the backdrop of registering the complete numbering of players of the season which has not been completed.
According to him, “I’m very okay with my players performance in this game. Sharks are an established team while Bendel Insurance are re-building and of course the result attests to their performance.
“All the same, this is not to say we have crossed the bridge. We will still be adding and dropping players until we get the right standard and number of players we need to make the team squad on a solid ground.
“For now we have only registered 18 players for the purpose of registration. So, we are on the final lap of getting the truly rejuvenated Bendel Insurance,” he explained.
