BENIN CITY ––In a bid to search talents to take sports in Nigeria to the highest level, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has decided to reach out to the health sector as South South zone holds Nursing and Health Technology Games in Asaba, Delta State in December.
This development was disclosed exclusively to OBSERVERsports over the weekend in Benin City, Edo state by the zone’s new zonal coordinator of NSC Mr. Emma Jeremiah Akpabio.
“The National Sports Commission, has now taken up the challenge to take the search for talents in sports to the health sector.
This is why we will be holding the Nursing and Health Technology Games come December this year in Asaba Delta State.
“You will agree with me talents abound everywhere especially in institutions of learning. But the health sector, has been neglected. And I do believe there are talents willing to exhibit their skills that at the end of the day we can achieve very good results,” he explained.
Mr. Akpabio who said that he inherited the games which would be held before now with some teething problems however affirmed that the zone now under his leadership is very set to host the games successfully.
The former coordinator of South East zone who took over from Mr. Ogunjime used the opportunity to thank the Delta State government for accepting to be the host state where others have chickened out.
Meanwhile, the various sports directors and officials of the South south zone have been holding series of meetings towards the successful hosting of the games, just as the Nursing and Health Schools have all resumed preparations of their athletes.
