Consequences Of Disobedience

If there is anything God cherishes, It’s absolute obedience . He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Heb 11 : 6. There is no limit to God’s Blessings for those that believe and obey His word. Beloved, No one can deceive Him as He has all it entails to know the intents of your heart. Jeri. 17: 10 states, I the Lord search the heart… even to give everyman according to his way, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Beloved, the Lord does not want anyone to end-up in disarray. He gives guidelines to successes and breakthroughs. He allows you to make your choice. Either to obey or disobey but allows you bear the brunt or reward for whatever decision you choose to take. Josh 1:8 succinctly admonished Joshua to meditate day and night on the word of God, “ for then thou shall make thy way prosperous and then thou shall have good success. Prosperity and good success are gifts of God you are entitled to if you give in to God’s words. Beloved, king Solomon was loved by God for a wonderful worship offering he gave to the LORD, I kings 3:5, that it provoke the LORD to grant an open blanket to ask for whatever He desired. He asked for an understanding heart to govern the people of the lord, of whom the LORD had made him a king over. He was granted what he desired, Riches and honour were added to his requests. He was further promised long life on the throne if he kept God’s commandments and status. 1 kings 3:14.
God expected and desired total obedience from this king but as time passed by, he chose to love many strange women, from the specified countries the Lord warned him against 1 kings 11 : 1-4 , 10 This singular act caused him the wrath of God. The LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon and promised to rend away the kingdom but will give one tribe to Solomon for David’s sake and other to his servant Reheboam 1kings 11: 31.
Because the LORD permited the rebellion against the house of David when Solomon was on throne, there was nothing he could do to avert it.
When Solomon’s son – Reheboam was to become the king of lsreal, after the desire of his father, Solomon . All the Israelites came to the seat of power shechem to make him king. They sought to know how he would rule them. They reminded him of the harsh treatment from his father and implored him to make their heavy yoke lighter. And if he agreed they would serve him wholeheartedly. 1 kings 12 : 1 – 4.
He sought counsel from the old men and his peer. But as he was destined to fail, he disregarded the counsel of the elders and toke the hard line advice of his peers.
The people who came back as ordered by him to seek counsel were disappointed as “the king answered the people roughly” and they declared publicly to him “What portion have in a David? To your tents O Isreal! 1 kings 12:16. The Bible recorded that “So Isreal rebelled against the house of David unto this day”. 1 king 12:19.
Beloved, the throne of David had a split because Solomon, his Son sinned against God. Rehoboam had wanted to fight in order to retrieve the lost tribes but God warned him against such dangerous move. 1 kings 12:24. This says the Lord, Ye shall not go up, no fight against your brethren of Israel return everyman to his house: for this thing is from me”!
It’s very important to note that what ever God decides to do, after one’s disobedience, no one can challenge it. Another important lesson is that God can decide to plant crisis on your way if you decide to disregard Him Isaiah 54:16. He is a merciful God but also a jealous God. Exodus 20:5. However, He could decide to extend his grace upon one’s life if He considers it necessary. Jonah was lucky to enjoy God’s grace. He was sent to Nineveh on assignment to preach to over one hundred and fifty thousand people of Nineveh, but he decided to take to Joppa, he boarded a ship going to Tarshish. Jonah 1:3. He ended up in the belly of a fish, where he spent three days and three night before God spoke to the fish to vomit him out upon a dry land.
On his own volition, he had to go on journey after a tempest moment. It’s a fact of life that you and I would enjoy life abundance if we decide to obey Him in the course of our lives. I pray that God will grant us the grace to reverence Him so as not to disobey Him in Jesus Name.
