OBAMA’s Threat And The Assassin’s Hallucinations
By OSAZUA IVBAZE
In Denver Last week four men were arrested in connection with an apparent assassination plot against Obama. The police are downplaying the threat, saying that the man who made the threat was trying to sound important.
The four men were arrested following fortunate traffic stop. The first of the four men who have now been arrested was stopped for driving erratically. The driver, Tharin Gartrell, was stopped for driving erratically. “Gartrell is being held in the Arapahoe County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond and has a felony criminal record.”
Since then, there have been three more arrests. The second man was arrested at a Denver hotel. The third was arrested at a different Denver hotel. The fourth is underage and his name is not being released. Aurora Police held a news conference Monday to announce the arrests and said that during their investigation officers seized a bullet-proof vest, two rifles one of which was stolen; another had a hunting scope plus ammunition, drugs and walkie-talkies.
Aurora police seized weapons and drugs, which included methamphetamine, from the suspect’s rental pickup. One of the suspects told authorities that they were “going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a rifle sighted at 750 yards.”
Law enforcement sources say that one of the suspects “was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative.”
A second source told CBS4 News that they are concerned they may have come upon a possible “assassination plot.” Federal authorities are refusing to comment about why they believe the case is possibly tied to an assassination plot, but scheduled a news conference for 4 p.m. Tuesday.
“This is a methamphetamine and firearms case that arose from a traffic stop made by an Aurora Police officer,” a spokesman for the joint law enforcement information center told ABC News. “Firearms and methamphetamines were seized, and a number of individuals are in state custody. The matter continues to be under investigation. We’ll provide more information as it becomes available.”
The Obama campaign declined to comment on the situation.
The incident comes on the heels of an alleged threat against Obama’s rival. Sen. John McCain.
The report says that an assassination attempt stems from statements being made by the drug high men about their desire to kill Obama, and from one of the arrested making statements about another of the accused about his desire to assassinate Obama.
Whether or not the Obama assassination plot was contrived by one man to sound important, as a section of American press wants the world to believe, the truth of the matter is that the Democratic Party presidential candidate’s political conquests have given realist Americans some sleepless nights.
With a 3-point lead over his Republican challenger, as at yesterday, Obama has become a real threat to those Americans and their appologists who believe that the world must be seen only through the lenses provided by the cowboys.
Obama’s audacious hope is wrapped up in awesome potential for self-cultivation, self-direction.
His competitive edge lies in possessing a mind, not compulsively driven by a sense of powerlessness, but one which has full spontaneous responses to questions, one which seeks to unite fragmented parts of history, one which openly faces challenges however intimidating or troubling and above all an active sense of curiosity, ability and willingness to lead the most powerful nation on earth.
Born and reared in an intensely capitalist society, Obama recognises that the economy, be it global or national is of such social importance that its major resources and means of production should be open to democratic participation and subject to democratic social regulations.
As his popularity soars with brightened prospects of succeeding George Bush, the United States will focus on a future of re-engineered social relations and foreign policy that will lower tension in the Middle East, Afghanistan Iraq and other troubled political theatres in the world.
In her remarks at the Democratic Party convention in Denver, last week, Hilary Cliton, the woman who battled Obama in the presidential primaries defined the kind of president America of tomorrow yearns for, and urged her fellow country women/men to vote for Obama.
Her words “we need to elect Barack Obama because we need a president who understands that America can’t compete in a global economy by padding the pockets of energy speculators, while ignoring the workers whose jobs have been slipped overseas”.
