DESOPADEC Set To Industrialise Delta

WARRI-The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Wellington Okirika has reaffirmed the readiness of the oil agency to actualize its industrialization intention of its mandate areas as this remain one of the surest ways of creating employment and discouraging youths restiveness in the Niger-Delta region.


The Chairman who spoke when the board of DESOPADEC granted an audience to team of German engineering firm that specializes on construction of modular refineries disclose that, “The dream of the board of DESOPADEC to industrialize our degraded environment through the establishment of modular refineries and gas gathering plant using mineral that are available in the area is still very much alive”


Chief Okirika said that, DESOPADEC is deeply concerned about how to create employment opportunities as this can help in addressing the high rate of unemployment that is mostly traceable to high level of restiveness in the region.


The DESOPADEC boss who was highly elated about the disclosure by the leader of German firm that their company has the capacity to complete a modular refinery within 24 months, directed that the team be taking on site inspection to possibly choose suitable site for the proposed refinery.


Also speaking, the leader of the German Engineering firm, GLOBAL PERFORMANCE GROUP, Dr Gerd Cremer said unlike the conventional refinery that takes between 7 to 9 months to complete, modular refinery with close monitoring / supervision can be completed within 22 to 24 months.
