BENIN CITY- As Nigeria marked her 48 Independence Anniversary on Wednesday the Deputy Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Chief Clement Ben Edo-Osagie, has observed that with precedent and diligent management of the nations abundant human and material resources, Nigeria will get to the promised land.
He made the remark during a chat with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER, on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, in Benin City.
Chief Ben Edo-Osagie however noted that to achieve the above, the present crop of leaders must properly harness the material and human resources at the disposal of the country, and should be more focused and dedicated to finding solutions to the numerous problems facing the country.
While expressing concern over the inability of the country to progress as expected, just as he identified military interventions and lack of commitment on the part of some past leaders of the country to contribute to the betterment of the country, among others the Deputy chairman appealed to Nigerians to make unity their watchword, so as to make the country a more stronger entity.
He stressed the need for the present set of leaders in the country to emulate past leaders like Awolowo, Azikiwe, Ahmadu Bello, among others, who made personal sacrifices for the nation to progress, noting that it necessary steps were not taken to reshape the destiny of the country for the better, Nigeria may continue to lay behind.
