Reconcile people Not Aggrieved Parties, Ladoja Tells PDP

By ABIODUN AFOLABI

IBADAN-Former Governor of Oyo State,Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja has said that reconciliation was on course between his group and the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP].

Ladoja who was fielding questions from newsmen in his Bodija residence in the Oyo State capital on Tuesday stated that “ for reconciliation to be effective, the party must be ready to reconcile with the people of the state whose mandate were stolen during the last year’s governorship election.

He opined that by reconciling with his group, the party was just reconciling with about five percent of the members of the party in the state , and what about the remaining 95 percent?

“Gentlemen , from the look of things, I think they should go and reconcile with them “he said.

He was of the view that by the time all the aggrieved parties had been reconciled, the peace which had been eluding the party in the South West zone of the country would have returned and the people of the area would have accepted it whole heartedly. He was optimistic that come 2011, the party would be accepted by all and sundry as all the stakeholders would have used their respective personal connection to woo those in the opposing parties.

Ladoja commended Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun-led Reconciliation Committee saying he was ready to give in his best towards the success of the party [PDP] in the zone without any string attached.

The former state chief executive further told journalists that it would be wrong for anybody to compare his administration with that of his successor because of individual backgrounds coupled with their differences in term of political understanding.

According to him, “I believe in embarking on a project that would be of immense benefits to the people of Oyo State hence we embarked on the road project which the total cost would have be N42billion but the first phase was N14billion which Akala terminated its contract recently.”

Defending the road project, he said “the project would have decongest Ibadan if it was completed, adding that he had the intention of completing the project through the N5million his administration would have realised as toll from the road on monthly bases.
