IJEBU-IFE - The mayhem in Ijebu East Local Government, Ogun State has taken a new dimension as the Council Chairman, Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye alleged threat to his life following his refusal to implicate the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Dimeji Bankole and Senator Jubril Martins Kuye as the sponsors of the anarchy.
Oladunjoye also insisted that it was in the reprisal attacks on the residents over the killing of the Area Commander of Ijebu Divisional Police Command, ACP Oludokun Omolodun by hoodlums that the Police started killing people and set many houses ablaze.
The council boss, the monarch of Ijebu-Ife, His Royal Highness, Oba Ajalorun, head of the Ijebu-Ife Vigilante group, Chief Duduyemi Jewo, Olufe of Ijebu-Ife and the state O/c Criminal Investigation Officer, ACP Omojola have however been summoned to appear before the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Abuja today over the matter.
Oladunjoye who made the allegation at a media briefing in Lagos yesterday over his predicament claimed he was asked by the State governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel at a security meeting held at State House, Abeokuta on last Saturday to rope-in Hon. Bankole and Senator Jubril Martins Kuye as the sponsors of the anarchy.
He alleged that his refusal to implicate the Parliamentarians informed the resolve of the governor to exterminate him through some of his (Daniel) security aides, while the security meeting was still going on.
Oladunjoye alleged that while presenting his report and had insisted that the mayhem was caused by some criminals who lost two of their members during an encounter with vigilante group recently, Governor Daniel interrupted that the crisis has political undertone and alleged that Hon Dimeji Bankole and Senator Jubril Martins Kuye are those who brought the hooligans to the town to cause mayhemî.
I insisted that the two honorable men are no way connected with the crisis and the governor told me in the presence of other people in the meeting that he regretted not following the advice by his Chief of Staff that he (Daniel) has be lenient with me, I should have been dealt with for long”, he alleged.
He added, ìI and Oba Ajalorun were asked to live the meeting. It was on my way out that the Governor Daniel directed that my three handsets should be taken away from me, which the director of the State Security Service (SSS) collected through the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the governor, Mr. Doyinî.
“The SSS director later directed me to follow one man, armed with a sophisticated rifle to unknown destination to make another statement, but I thank my God, because the man missed my car and my driver drove me to Iwe-Irohin house, Abeokuta where a Journalist gave me new cloth and a vehicle to escape because my car was being trailed”, he remarked.
