UYO-Akwa United’s head coach, Godwin Uwua has been told to beat Gombe United or face the sack.
The club’s management rose from a meeting in Uyo and issued Uwua with the ultimatum to win their next match or be shown the exit door.
Akwa United are languishing in the bottom of the table after losing all their matches in the four week old Premier League.
“Last season, we gave Uwua all the needed support, and yet he couldn’t deliver. Teams would come to our home ground and secure victories so why can’t Uwua’s team go out and do same?” a furious member of Akwa management told KickOffNigeria.com.
“We are worried that Godwin Uwua started the season on a wrong footing by laying off quality players who helped the club stay afloat last season and replacing them with tired legs.
“We gave him all the free hand to perform but now we’re in a hurry for the team to start winning. Our governor, Obong Godswill Akpabio has invested so much on the team this season and expect to get something positive in return,” added our source.
