Nigeria @ 48: How Independent Is Nigeria?

This question cannot be properly answered without knowing what independence is. According to Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, Independence means ‘to be independent’. And the dictionary went further to say that independent means “not dependent on other people —, not controlled by other people”. It also means, “not connected with each other; separate”.
