BENIN CITY- Oredo Local Government Council has again declared its readiness to partner with individuals and corporate organisation in its bid to transform the locality.
Chairman of the council, Hon. Mike Nosa-Ehima, gave the declaration while commissioning a pilot project to beautify the King’s Square, Benin City, undertaken by a private firm, Towns and Villages Managers Organisation.
Hon. Nosa-Ehima, who commended the private firm for believing in the dream of his administration to sanitize and beautify the King’s Square, noted that Oredo Local Government was determined to restore Benin City to its pride of place in terms of environmental cleanliness.
The council boss again appealed to street traders and illegal structure owners to quit the King’s Square, and move into vacant market stalls before council ordered total demolition in a few weeks.
He warned those who urinate indiscriminately around the King’s Square of a N5,000 fine if caught henceforth.
Hon. Nosa-Ehima appealed to residents in the locality to key into the Oredo beautification master –plan, and noted that with the construction of the Oredo Central Motor Park and the reconstruction of the Lagos Street, the chaotic traffic congestion for which the King’s Square was notorious, would be permanently arrested.
Earlier, Dr. I.O. Orhiakhi, the Executive Officer of Towns and Village Managers Organisation, said the company was out to support the efforts of the state and local governments in the beautification of the state.
