UROMI – Members of a notorious shrine in Uromi, Edo State are on the trail of one Emmanuel Eboigbe Boma who absconded from home following several threats to his life.
Investigation revealed that, when Eboigbe’s father died, he was invited to a meeting of members of the cult group where he was told to prepare grounds for his initiation into the group apparently to take over his father’s position in the cult group.
The refusal of Emmanuel Eboigbe Boma to take over his late father’s position in their community shrine has caused panicked in the community in Uromi, Edo State following his sudden disappearance from his home in Uromi.
The missing Emmanuel Eboigbe who is the eldest sons of the late Chief Priest of the shrine (juju) Pa Eboigbe in the community absconded from home apparently to escape the initiation rites because of his religious disposition as a Christian.
The Late Pa Eboigbe a renowned traditionalist, herbalist and a powerful witch doctor was also believed to be a ritualist who allegedly killed the wife, Emmanuel’s mother for ritual purposes.
The shrine he presides over was handed over to him by his late father and they have large worshippers (followers).
It was also gathered that Emmanuel openly refused to perform the initiation rites which led to several threats to his life by members of the cult group.
However, indications reveal that Emmanuel Eboigbe Boma’s refusal to get himself initiated into the group may not be unconnected with his faith in the Christian religion which had earned him so much respect among Christian faithfuls.
According to a family source, Emmanuel ran away from home in 2007 to avoid the initiation rites which also involves the use of charms and other fetish items.
It will be recalled that, the fleeing Emmanuel Eboigbe was last seen in 2007 after several threat to his life.
The shrine worshippers according to source have vow to make Emmanuel the next priest as he is the priest designate and that they will not rest until it is accomplished.
