Lagos Speaker Warns Against HIV/AIDS Scourge

LAGOS – The Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, has advised school children to adhere to the philosophy which states that condom is not the total solution but abstinence from sexual interaction before marriage.

Hon. Ikuforiji stated this at the state Assembly complex while addressing school children who were members of HIV\AIDS prevention strategy club.
Ikuforiji said, “ We must work for our future, we must not do what comes in the future.

In life, there is time for everything , time for rein and time for the moon” he said.
He warned the students not to toy with their future, saying one of the worst news is HIV/AIDS scourage.

Hon. Ikuforiji advised the children to keep to their motto which says “It is conduct, not condom” He advised them to abstain from immorality till they marry after the completion of their education, saying school children must not be in haste for worldly enjoyment.

Also speaking too, Engineer Jerry Okwhosa, who is the Co-ordinator of the students delegation, said “Be wise, not Condom wise”.

He said that sex is one minute of pleasure that could cause everlasting sorrow.
Jerry Okwuosa reiterated that abstinence from sex until marriage and fidelity to an uninfected spouse stops genital transmission of HIV.

The student co-ordinator warned: “The main reason for life is threatening failures of condoms apart from the deficient protection condoms offer”.

Jerry Okwuosa added that teenagers are simply too impulsive and undisciplined to use condoms with care needed to reduce the rate of failure.

He added that the nature of human beings and passion for sex do not permit correct use of condoms .

He however advised that acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrum (AIDS) could not be contracted through abstinence from pre-marital and extra marriage sex.
