BENIN CITY - Chairman, Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Mike Nosa-Ehima, has inaugurated the Road Maintenance Unit with a charge to take their responsibility seriously.
The council chairman maintained that the central focus of the unit was the rehabilitation of all local government roads, including the maintenance of the street lighting system in the locality.
Hon. Nosa-Ehima, while officially inaugurating the committee, provided wheel barrows, shovels headpans, rakes, cutlasses and other road maintenance implements and also assured of the provision of Rollers, a bus and a tipper lorry.
Describing the Road Maintenance Unit as the nerve-centre and a key aspect of his administration, the council chairman challenged members of the unit to roll up their sleeves in readiness for the task ahead.
Hon. Nosa-Ehima maintained that now that the dry season was fast approaching, the business of road rehabilitation, desilting of gutters and the clearing of over-grown weds on road sides was taking the priority attention of the council.
The council chairman reiterated the determination of his administration to key into the drive for excellence championed by the state government and urged the Road Maintenance Unit not to betray the confidence reposed in it.
In his acceptance speech, the chairman of the Oredo Road Maintenance Unit, and the supervisor for works in the council, Hon. Edoba Asemota, assured the council of the unit’s determination to succeed in its assigned responsibilities.
