LAGOS -Following the continual implementation of its progressive employee engagement policy aimed at regularly rewarding and motivating its employees, the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company PLC (NAHCo) has announced the promotion of 159 of its employees across various Departments and Stations.
The promotion exercise which takes effect from November 1, 2008 is a fall out of the annual staff performance appraisal exercise conducted early in the year.
NAHCo’s Head of Human Capital and Administration, Mrs. Abike Wesey, said in a statement that the exercise was in recognition of the performance, commitment and steadfastness displayed by staff, adding that she expressed confidence that the promoted staff will meet the new responsibilities with a higher level of enthusiasm and passion.
An analysis of the spread of beneficiaries of the exercise according to her shows that Passenger Services Department got the largest number with 46 staffs promoted to various cadres, followed by Ramp and Cargo services Departments which got twenty five and twenty four elevations respectively while eleven people were promoted in Maintenance Services Department, seven in Security and Six in Finance and Accounts Departments, saying that out of the total number of staff promoted, five received double promotion.
Reacting to the exercise, a cross section of NAHCo’s staff commended the new Management for its determination to improve the welfare of its work force considering that some workers were last promoted in year 2000, describing the promotion exercise as creating a sense of belonging in the workers by correcting the wrongs of the past.
