Stakeholders urge more fight against corruption

ABUJA - A conference of anti-corruption crusaders has called for the intensification of the fight against corruption to strengthen financial, environmental and natural resources governance.

A statement issued in Athens , Greece , after the 13th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC), and given to newsmen in Abuja yesterday said that corruption had been the bane of development across the world.

It said that corruption had fostered misery, alienation and economic instability in most countries.

The theme of the conference was “Global Transparency: Fighting Corruption for A Sustainable Future”.

The statement said that the conference participants came up with suggestions on how to effectively combat corruption which had consistently “undermined development, while fostering conflict and violence” in many countries.
