BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor has stressed the need to review the policy of handing over mission schools to the original owners.
The return of such schools to missionaries he said, would enable them contribute to the upliftment of their academic standard and inculcate sound moral values in the students.
Prof. Osunbor made the remarks when members of the Anglican Grammar School Ujoelen, Ekpoma Old Boys Association paid him a courtesy visit on his 57th birthday on Sunday evening at the Government House, Benin City.
The Governor, who is an old boy of the school, lamented the dilapidation of infrastructures in their alma mater and opined that development of such schools was best in the hands of the missionaries who were the original owners, pointing out that at the appropriate time, the needful would be done.
He thanked them for their visit and show of love and honour which he noted would help to relive memories of the secondary school days just as he also expressed gratitude for their prayers, especially as he believed in the power of prayers.
On the renovation work currently going on in their alma mater, Prof. Osunbor in his usual humility and simplicity said God uses human beings, incidents and events to make his ways a reality.
Earlier, the National President of the Anglican Grammar School, Ujoelen Old boys Association, Sir Sam Obokhare said the purpose of their visit was to felicitate with the governor on his 57th birthday and to thank God for using him to achieve infrastructural development in the state, including the renovation of their alma mater.
He commended Prof. Osunbor on his style of leadership in the state and the old boys of the school, adding that they appreciated the projects going on in their alma mater as well as the appointments given to some of the old boys.

While describing the governor as a man of excellence whom the old boys were proud of, Hon. Ehebha prayed God to give him wisdom and strength to achieve success in his tenure as governor of the state, adding that he should not be distracted and urged him to do his best.
