BENIN CITY - The Benin Monarch has given judgment in favour of the people of Equavoen commuity in Ovia North, East Local Government Area of Edo State in a land despute between Equavoen and Ekosodin community.
This was seqel to the finding, by the Chiefs appointed by the Oba to look into the problem that have been on in the community for over 28 years where the acting Odionwere of the community Mr. David Iserheurkhe Okunwonyi divided the community land into three and gave two parts to Ekosodin.
The Chiefs said Mr. Okunwony have no right on whatever reason ton share the community land into three and gave two parts to Ekosodin and therefore ordered that he should go and appease the people of Equavoen Community and the palace for his wrong dealings, the Chiefs also ordered that the people of Ekosodin should give the land back to the Equavoen community for peace to reign.
The chairman of Equavoen community Mr. Ogbeiwi Enwumwen and other members of the community thanked the Oba and theChiefs for the judgment adding that with the judgment the problem which has been on for over 28 years has finally been laid to rest.
He said the problem of the land dispute was taken to high court 9 and the court ruled in favour of the comminuty and palace also ruled in their favour sometime ago but Mr. David Okunwonyi went ahead, brought people from out the community and shared the community land into three and gave two to Ekosodin, we cried to the palace and the Oba appointed Chiefs to look into the problem and thank God the matter has finally been settled by the Oba.
The chairman was accompanied to the palace by the youths elders and women from the community.
