IDAH - The Principal Secretary, Office of the Vice-President, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, has been conferred with the chieftaincy title of the Omachi-Atta-Wali, by His Royal Majesty, Attah Igala, Alh. (Dr.) Aliyu O. Obaje.
Other dignitaries conferred with chieftaincy titles include the Governor of Nassarawa State, Aliyu Akwe Doma, the Executive Director (Operations) Afribank Plc, Alh. Isa Jibrin and wife Hajia Aishat Isa Jubrin.
This was at the 52nd anniversary of the enthronement of Alh. (Dr.) Aliyu O. Obaje as the Attah Igala at Idah, Kogi State, last weekend.
The honour on Chief Oghiadomhe, who is the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, is in recognition of the recipient’s effort in touching the lives of people in Edo State and Nigeria.
According to the Attah Igala, Chief Oghiadomhe deserves such conferment of the chieftaincy title particularly as he had been contributing to the development of Etsako, Edo State and Nigeria.
He explained that the honour demonstrated that Chief Oghiadomhe had been an icon of national acceptance even by Igala people.
Commenting, after being conferred with and dressed according to the Igala title, Chief Oghiadomhe, who was accompanied by a large crowd of Edo State indigenes, expressed happiness for the honour, which he said came as a surprise.
The principal secretary noted that Idah and Etsako were neighbours separated by the River Niger, adding that the development showed that Nigeria was and would remain one.
In their remarks, the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, Alh. A.Y.E. Dirisu, Olokpe of Okpe, Idogun III, Edo State Legislator representing Etsako Central Constituency, Hon. Chris Umogbai, Gregory Ileogben, Oshioke Oghiadomhe, first son of the principal secretary, Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Women Empowerment and Gender Issues,
Mrs. Ethel Eweka Edosa and the Secretary to Etsako Central Local Government, Hon. Godfrey Imoagene described the honour as well deserved, adding that Chief Oghiadomhe was a mentor and an achiever that had distinguished himself in all spheres of life and that it showed love and oneness in the country.
Also, the Omoaze I of Weppa Wanno, His Royal Highness, Dr. George Egabor described Chief Oghiadomhe as a true Nigerian and great politician.
He said that the chieftaincy title on Chief Oghiadomhe was fitting, which showed his acceptance nationwide, and that it also encouraged national unity.
The Principal Secretary to the Vice-President, Chief Oghiadomhe later held a reception for guests at his residence in his hometown Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area, Edo State.
