PORT HARCOURT- The Action Congress(AC) Rivers state chapter has cautioned Governor Chibuike Amaechi over his moves to reconcile with his political mentor and former governor of the state Dr. Peter Odili, warning that it could be counter productive.
The AC in a statement in Port Harcourt said it was not against the move as long as it is not a grand design to perfect what it called the “squardemania, looting
of our common patrimony, corruption, re-enslavement of the people of Rivers State”, etc
The statement signed by Eze Chukwuemeka Eze,stated that if the move was to reintroduce the egoistic tendency of an individual, sophistication of militancy, muzzling the opposition, and other ills associated with the past Odili’s administration, then it would not to be part of the reunion.
The AC however said it would participate, if the reunion is aimed at restoring unity and peace to the precarious situation in Rivers State allegedly created by the Odili administration.
They therefore urged the governor to in the same spirit and as a good Christian to find a space in his forgiving heart for militants created by the Odili’s administration and dialogue with them to douse the choking tension in the State, stressing that once this was done they would be convinced that the forgiving posture of the Governor is genuine and not discriminatory.
The above notwithstanding, let us reiterate once again that we have a great pact with the people of Rivers State to ensure peace, good governance, deliverance of good and quality governance, emphasizing that the party would not compromise on this not withstanding the relationship or association with the present government in power.
