Osunbor, here to develop Edo - Ogbemudia

BENIN CITY- The two-time former Governor of Edo State, Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia has said the Governor of Edo State, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor is determined to take Edo State to higher grounds.

The former governor who disclosed this in Benin City recently, said: “From the massive rehabilitation, reconstruction and construction of roads in the state, it is a clear indication that Osunbor has come to work”.

He said that there “is no segment of the state economy that the governor has not touched. Is it health or education? just mention it, Osunbor has been there”.

Dr. Ogbemudia who also spoke on the state of the nation concerning the power probe, said the method they were applying was out of place since the decision to fund the power sector was a collective one.

He stressed that once the matter had been deliberated upon by the National Executive Council (NEC) it becomes a collective responsibility and not only the President is involved.

“Chief Olusegun Obasanjo cannot be held responsible except they want to apply a style that implies, when a son commits a crime they now arrest the mother in place of the child that is a criminal.

On the Niger Delta issue, Dr. Ogbemudia said military option was not the best as “putting food on their table will go a long way in solving the problem in the Niger Delta.” Yar ‘Adua has taken the right step by establishing a Ministry for the Niger Deltans.

Obasanjo tried his very best within the period he was the president, for not allowing us to go back to civil war. As far as I am concerned, he scored a pass mark.

“It is only an angel that can rule Nigeria without receiving insults and angels are not available to rule us now,” he further said.

The former Governor however advised that the three basic necessities of life were shelter, food and mobility and once these were provided, “the issue of the Niger Delta crisis will be over, and government should look critically into these areas and not the military option,” he stated.
