ABA (ABIA) - Felix Anyasi-Agwu,chairman of Enyimba International FC of Aba , has appealed to the club’s fans who could not gain entry to the stadium on Sunday to bear with the club.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) reports that many fans returned home when the gates of the 20,000-capacity stadium were shut after it was filled. Anyasi-Agwu said the decision to shut the gates was in compliance with CAF directives, to avoid stampede
As a result of overcrowding. On the goalless draw with the visiting Al Ahly in the
CAF champions League first leg semi-final, the chairman said the club needed encouragement and not pity.
“Nobody should pity us, rather we should be encouraged. Although we drew, we are not yet out.
Nobody should lose hope. It’s not over until it’s over, ‘‘ he said. Anyasi-Agwu said he was confident that the team would scale through to the final, adding that Enyimba would play the game of their lives in the second leg.
We are going to come up with a different strategy in the second leg. The pressure is going to be on them in Cairo ,‘‘ he added.
The chairman noted that the Aba side would take advantage of the fact that the Egyptians usually played better at away than at home. we will take advantage of this. what the team need is to train very well and ensure that they played the match of their lives in Cairo .
The players gave a good account of themselves even though they could not score. It’s not easy to get to the semi-final of the competition and become one of the best four teams in the continent,’’ he said.
