Despite Enyimba’s lacklustre performance in the first leg semi match of the CAF champions league played last Sunday, former Green Eagles star, Emmanuel Obasuyi (fondly called “Shakara’ by his admirers) has posited that the Aba based club will triumph in the second leg billed for Cairo in two weeks time.
Obasuyi, a football coach with Edo-State Sports Council said thus “sports, I mean football has its antics. Sometimes the game does not go the way you think. That is what people don’t know! Enyimba will scale through in Cairo”.
The erstwhile Green Eagles’ player explained that Enyimba has an advantage with the goalless draw recorded last Sunday in the Aba International Stadium.
He said that it is an indisputable fact that al-Ahly FC of Egypt is a highly technical side and have players with lots of potentials.
Consequently, he said the Egyptian team won the competition five times and that they are desperately searching for the sixth title.
“You see, in football, there is what we call god of soccer. It can be on the side of any team during a match. So, people should not dismiss Enyimba with a wave of the hand. I know people will say it is all over. It is not over until it is over”.
Obasuyi was very optimistic that the reverse leg which come sup in a forthnight will favour Enyimba.
“There are some elements in Enyimba FC that will make them to play well in the second leg.
Coach Austin Eguavoen knows his onions and I know God will enable him to succeed and qualify for the finals.
You know Enyimba is looking for a third crown having won it twice. I see them springing surprise if they find their rhythm in the reverse leg in Cairo the football coach enthused.
