Political Party Leaders in Edo, Delta and Ondo states have met with police in zone ‘5’ to ensure orderliness and adequate security in and outside the Appeal Court venue during its ruling next week in Benin City.
The meeting which was held at the zonal headquarters Benin City, WEEKEND OBSERVER gathered was called by the Assistant Inspector- General of police (AIG) Mr. Suleiman Fakai who appealed to party leaders to prevail on their supporters to avoid actions that would undermine security of lives and property as police would deal decisively with anyone caught disturbing public peace.
AIG Suleiman who warned against wild jubilation or political gathering of any form during the court sitting on Tuesday advised party faithful to celebrate or lament in their various houses as the police had enough manpower to deal with any unwanted situation that may arise as a result of the court ruling.
Continuing, the zone’‘5’ police boss disclosed that the court had directed that only five representatives of each party be allowed to the court room as others were expected to watch the live telecast in their palours as congested court room would not be conducive for the judges.
Meanwhile, the Appeal will on Monday, November 10, 2008 entertain appeal cases from Delta and Ondo states, while on Tuesday November 11, 2008 rule on the appeal filed by Governor Oserheimen Osunbor of Edo State against the judgment of the state Election Petition Tribunal which declared the governorship candidate of the Action Congress (AC), Comrade Adams Oshiomohle, winner of the April 14, 2007 election in Edo state.
