IBADAN - PDP leaders in the South-West met in Ibadan at the weekend for another marathon meeting that lasted for six hours where the final seal was said to have been put on all the peace efforts the party leadership had been making to have a formidable and united party in the zone.
Last Saturday meeting was the second in one week, where party leaders gathered again to resolve issues dividing the party in the zone for the last three years.
The meeting scheduled for 2, did not commence until around 10.45 pm when the host governor, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala personally drove in one of his private jeeps’ to the Presidential Lodge wing of the Government House, the venue of the meeting in company of two of his colleagues, Dr. Segun Oni and Otunba Gbenga Daniel both of Ekiti and Ogun States respectively to join Dr. Olusegun Agagu and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola both of Ondo and Osun States and other notable party chieftains including Chief Bode George who had arrived at the venue earlier.
The report stated that unlike the meeting held
last Monday, former President , Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was conspicuously absent .
Also besides him, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole too was not around and there was no information as to why the two leaders of the party were not around as part of the stakeholders of the party in the zone.
Speaking to the newsmen shortly after the all night meeting, the party’s National Vice-Chairman, South-West, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo said that the meeting was a continuation of the earlier one held on Monday and announced that the Lagos chapter crisis was finally resolved at the meeting which he said necessitated the presence of all the stakeholders from the State of Excellence.
