Alao Akala Takes Peace Initiative To Olubadan


IBADAN - Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State, paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I, in his palace.


Reports say that Alao-Akala’s visit, said to be private, lasted for about two hours. The visit, it was learnt, was aimed at settling the lingering crisis between the traditional ruler and the Alao-Akala administration.


The governor had last week paid a similar visit to the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oyewunmi Ajagungbade.


Speaking with newsmen after the visit, Alao-Akala said he was in the palace to seek ways of achieving peace in the state, especially in Ibadan land.


“We should be at peace with each other, we need peace in this state and in Ibadan land, most especially, “Alao-Akala said. Receiving the governor at the Monatan palace of the Oba, T.A.


Akinyele, one of the prominent chiefs in Ibadan, said Alao-Akala’s visit was “ a sign of good things happening in the state today.” Other prominent personalities at the palace include:Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Alhaji Azeez Arisekola-Alao and former governor of Oyo state, Chief Kolapo Ishola.


It was recalled that since the installation of Odugade over a year ago, he had not been attending the council of Obas and Chiefs meeting.


He was also said to have directed his chiefs, representing the 11 council areas of Ibadan land, not to attend the expanded council meeting.
