NDLEA Impounds 200kg Of Indian Hemp In FCT

GWAGWALADA(FCT)- The FCT Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has impounded 200 kg of Indian hemp from suspected dealers in the last three months.

Mrs. Victoria Egbase, the NDLEA FCT Commander, made this known in an interview with newsmen in Gwagwalada.

“This arrest is one of major achievements by men of the Agency this year,” she said.
She said the command also arrested one Isa Umar, suspected to be a major Indian Hemp dealer in Gwagwalada, who was allegedly found with 15 kg of Indian hemp on Aug. 21.
“Before now Isa has been wanted by the command and the police, following his alleged involvement in drug and criminal activities,” she said.

Egbase said three other suspected drug dealers, Aminu Abubakar, Jack Age Abel and Ibrahim Bello were also arrested in Gwagwalada last month, after being allegedly found with 10 kg of Indian hemp.

She said the Command was similarly looking for Ebuka Okeke, Sunday Ogodo and Mathew Sunday, who escaped arrest but allegedly left 129.6 kg of Indian hemp at their residents.

Egbase, however, said that during a recent patrol around Pape, three alleged drug dealers were arrested with 15 kg of Indian hemp.

They are Hafiz Olawoluwa, Suleman Abdullahi alias Mazi Mazi and Mrs. Doris Moses.
“Our patrol teams have similarly succeeded in arresting two other suspects Obadia Emos and Toyin Adeleke, who were found with 10.45 kg of Indian hemp at Piyoyi Village in Kwali Area Council,” she said.

Egbase said that drug trafficking in FCT declined by 55 per cent in the last one year compared to the number arrested within the corresponding period last year.

“This is as a result of increased surveillance and intensive patrol on the major highways,’’ she said.

She assured residents of the command’s readiness to combat illicit drug trade and appealed to them to them to support the fight by providing information to the Command.
