OKOPEDI (AKWA IBOM)- Mr. John Ita, the Chairman, Okobo Local Council in Akwa Ibom says the construction of Atabong Beach Market road will assist Bakassi returnees to undertake self-help economic activities.
Ita told newsmen at Okopedi, the headquarters of the local government, that some of the returnees could sustain themselves if given a conducive environment.
Atabong Beach is one of the camps for Bakassi returnees, along side Ebighi-Edu, Obuefi village, Amamon, Okopedi and Ekeja, all in Akwa Ibom.
The council chairman called on the state government to extend its focus on road construction to the Atabong Beach Market road.
Ita said that the Atabong Beach Market road was the major outlet serving the fishermen from Bakassi and other fishing settlements road, according to Ita cut across four communities of Nung Atai, Ebighi Ata, Obuefi and Atabong clan.
