EMAI – As the Chieftaincy dispute in Emai clan continues unabated, the Chiefs and Elders of Ovbiomu and Evbiamen, two of the three communities that make up Emai clan, have penultimate Thursday, threatened to secede if any of the two communities is not made to produce the next Oleije of Emai clan.
Indication to this emerged penultimate Thursday when Chiefs and elders of the two clan which are yet to produce the Oleije rose from an enlarged meeting, insisting that they be made to produce the next Oleije or else, they would take the next option left for them, and that is to go their separate ways and become autonomous.
A Spokesman for Ovbiomu Community, Chief Ige Eseiche, the Oguko of Ovbiomu told newsmen that, they had made various representations to the State Governor on the need to issue chieftaincy declaration on the Oleije’s stool and were waiting for government’s pronouncement on the matter. He, however, said that, they were very optimistic about what the governments decision would be and expressed hope that it would come out in their favour.
In the same vein, Chief Eseiche disclosed that, the recent petition written to the Governor over the matter on behalf of Ovbiomu and Evbiamen Communities by Barrister Ogulogu Omimi Obaide, was authorised by them and that, the lawyer was acting on behalf of the two communities.
According to Chief Eseiche, the clarification has become necessary in view of the news item which was aired in one of the electronic station to the effect that the lawyer was a faceless person who had no mandate to represent the people he purportedly said he was writing on their behalf. “We want to say without mincing word that, Ogulogu Omimi Obaide Esq is our legal representative on this matter and whatever action he has taken on behalf of Ovbiomu and Evbiamen Communities has our blessings and mandate,” Eseiche declared.
