BENIN CITY – The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, (NIESV), Edo State branch, has appealed to the Benin Monarch to assist them in the facilitation of establishment of Estate Management Department in the University of Benin and Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma respectively.
The Chairman of NIESV, Edo State branch, Okougbegun Solomon Boroni, made the appeal in an address delivered when he led other members of the Institution on a courtesy visit to the Oba at the palace yesterday.
He said the establishment of Estate Management Depatment in the University of Benin and Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, would make for fair representation of Edo people in the Estate Surveying and Valuation profession in Nigeria, which will also help the Edo State branch to strategise towards preparing the people of Edo State \ South South zone to participate in the national leadership position of NIESV in future.
The chairman informed the Oba that the main objective of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers was to establish a high and reputable standard of professional conduct and practice in the profession throughout the country and also to promote the general interest of the profession and to maintain and extend its usefulness for the public good.
Boroni also used the occasion to request for a land from the Oba to enable the institution build a befitting secretariat for the Edo State branch institution in Benin City.
Responding, the Benin Monarch His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa, promised to look into the request made by NIESV and informed the authority concerned.
The Oba then asked the chairman to liaise with the secretary on the request for land so as to know the area that would be suitable for them.
