Residents, passers-by and commuters woke up that early morning to behold the scary scene. A lady thought to be insane suddenly emerged with a protruding stomach, the size of an over-blown balloon, parading the Kings Square, looking for breakfast.

Those who live in the area were too busy to notice the lady was pregnant until that morning when she threw away her clothing, revealing a stomach which looked like a palm-wine keg.
The lady grinned at onlookers who refused to answer her only and simple question: “you want to do?” Women in the motley crowed smote their breasts and rained curses on the man who must be responsible for the unholy act that led to the unwanted pregnancy.

However two suspects came to mind. They were two men who usually came to give gifts to the lady. The lady always ‘see her Esther’, using the side-walk as her bed. One of the men was identified to be a relation of the lanky lady who reined when afro hair was in vogue.

Nobody could account for the other man who people alleged come late in the evening, park his car at the Forestry Junction (to kill time) before strolling to Akpakpava Road to buy food for the mad lady. In the night when the place was deserted, the man came to render due benevolence.

In fact the lady was said to have gone out of her mind when a fiancé disappointed her just a couple of weeks to their planned wedding. She never recovered from the shock until she went into the streets. A close friend allegedly talked the fiancé out of the planned marriage. She reportedly told the young man that his partner was a flirt who does not know how to say no to men. Without investigation, the man went ahead to dump the lady despite few explanations. It was when the lady’s friend came to the man to show him love and asked his hand in marriage that the scale fell from the Romeo’s eyes. But it was too late to cry.

Elsewhere in the GRA a couple who had been married for over eight years without a child to complete their testimony, were engaged in a shouting bout. The lady was said to have been tipped off by neighbours who alerted that her husband was responsible for the mad woman’s pregnancy at the Ring Road. Unable to bear the humiliation and insult, the wife of the man who normally parked at the Forestry Junction to buy dinner for the mad lady, allegedly seized the husband by the jugular, asking for the truth, nothing but the truth.

A narrator said the man brought out his pencil to prove his innocence.

“If this pencil cannot write at home, what makes you think it will write abroad”, the man was said to have asked his brutish wife.

Whereupon the matter rose and neighbours were called in to settle the rift. One elderly man that cannot be fooled, then called the duo to get dress and take a ride to the Kings Square. It was gathered that the wife of the man refused the suggestion initially but later accepted because of the intervention of those who wanted to know the truth.

It did not take the man more than 10 minutes to drive to the Ring Road. However, it took him more than an hour to come out of his car.

“What will people say or think about me?”, he allegedly asked the elders.

Whereupon the man was forced out of the car. He was practically dragged to the lady who rushed to embrace her NIGHT LOVER. The man resisted but the lady was more determined. She grabbed the man and planted a kiss. Thereafter the legal wife collapsed and was revived later.

“It is true that the lady is mad but she knows who her lover is and who is responsible for the pregnancy”, one of the elders said.

However, the man denied, saying it was a planned work to rock the boat of his eight-year marriage.

Further denial led to the beating up of the man. He was severely beaten that he had to be rushed to the near-by hospital thereafter.

For now, the marriage has broken down while neighbours who have become interested spectators are watching and waiting for the day the mad lady would give birth. No one can predict the sex or who will pick the hospital bill. The woman is no longer at the Ring Road. She may have been taken for rehabilitation.

Those who defile infants or sleep with mad women in order to acquire more powers, should read this. It may be pleasurable during the act, the results are usually very bad.
