NLC Wants Fg To Energise Aviation Industry

KATSINA -Mallam Aliyu Matazu, the Chairman of NLC in Katsina State wants the Federal Government to provide an enabling environment for the aviation industry to enable it function optimally.
Matazu made the call in an interview with newsmen in Katsina recently.

‘Nigeria has signed Air Transportation Memorandum of Understanding with United Arab Emirate in Abu Dhabi to increase number of air trips between the two countries; this is not enough.

“The Federal Government needs to provide an enabling environment for the aviation industry.
“This is important for growth of the nation’s economy,” Matazu said.

The labour leader said the aviation industry was very critical to the nation’s economy, hence the need for the government to pay special attention to it.

Matazu also appealed to the government to re-consider its decision to increase the pump prices of petroleum products, come January next year.

He said the decision would worsen the living conditions of the common man.

“Given the dependence on private energy generation by manufacturers and other producers, caused by unstable power supply, and the near total dependence on road transportation for the movement of goods and persons.

“The cost of domestic production and prices of goods and services would definitely increase, should government remove the oil subsidy,” Matazu said.
