Council Destroys Illegal Refinery In Rivers

GOKANA (RIVERS) -Chief Victor Giadom, Chairman, Gokana Local Government has destroyed the illegal refinery operating in the area.

This was in compliance with the orders of Governor Chibuke Amaechi of Rivers State. Conducting newsmen round the site, the Chairman said effort was being made to ensure that all illegal refineries in the creeks were destroyed. According to Giadom, what the governor saw during his visit to the site, is only about 10 per cent of the illegal business going on along the creeks in Gokana.

He said that the Joint Task Force in the area and the Council were working together to stop the menace, noting that about ten suspected bunkerers have been arrested.
