PORT HARCOURT - Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru says the hoodlums, who kidnapped and later killed 93 year-old Pa Mathew Kaite Abu will never see old age nor peace in their lives.
Pa Abu, father of Sir Ngozi Abu, the Accountant-General of the state died in the hands of his captors on July 18, 2008, two days after he was abducted from his home at Ihuama in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers state.
Speaking during the funeral service for the late octogenerian at Saint Luke’s Anglican Church, Ihuama, Engr. Ikuru said hoodlums, who carried out the devilish act remained cursed till their fourth generation.
The deputy governor, who represented Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, urged the family of Pa Abu to take solace in the fact that he lived a good life and was dedicated to the service of God.
The deputy governor, who rode through the deplorable road linking Ihuama community, used the forum to announce the preparedness of the state government to construct and rehabilitate roads across the state.
Earlier in his sermon, the Bishop of Ahoada Diocese (Anglican Communion),
Rt. Rev. Nathan Ekpeye called on the Rivers State government and law enforcement agents to ensure that killers of Pa Abu were brought to book.
Bishop Ekpeye expressed strong belief that while the late octogenerian is resting in the bosom of the Lord, his killers would never have rest for the rest of their lives.
He reminded Christians of the need to live a good life while alive, so that when they die, they would be well prepared to give account of their stewardship on earth.
