AGENEBODE ––High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, OFR, has donated two brand new Hilux Patrol Vans and 10 new motor-cycles to the police in Agenebode, the administrative headquarters of Etsako East Local Government Council to boost security in Weppa-Wanno Kingdom.
Handing over the keys of the vehicles to the prescribed authority of the Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor, Omoaze I, High Chief Dokpesi, who is the Ezomo of Weppa Wanno Kingdom, said he was worried over the level to which the security situation in the place had degenerated.
According to him, the gruesome murder of some prominent sons of Weppa Wanno, including a serving Senior Police Officer, in recent history has become worrisome, adding that even the security agencies lamented that lack of vehicles and gadgets had made the place a fertile ground for criminal activities.
Dr. Dokpesi also commended the traditional ruler, HRH Oshiapi Egabor, for recording so much progress in spite of the damning security situation, urging that every one should collaborate and support him.
In his remarks, Okumagbe Egabor said the event marked a great day in the annals of Weppa Wanno Kingdom as he commended Dr. Raymond Dokpesi for his large heart to boost security for everybody in the community who would now sleep with two eyes closed.
He urged the police authorities to use the vehicles for their purpose, which include patrolling and provision of security for Weppa Wanno community, just as he prayed for the donor.
On his part, the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr. Baba Tijani, who represented the Commissioner of Police, commended the donor and expressed hopes that other well placed individuals would emulate the gesture.
He assured that the vehicles would be used for patrol in Weppa Wanno Kingdom.
Also, the authorities of Etsako East Local Government Council donated one Hilux Patrol Van to the police which the Chairman, Hon. Stanley Odidi, said was part of the council’s efforts to boost security in the local government area.
He added that the council had also renovated the police barracks in Agenebode.
Highlights of the event was the presentation of the keys of the vehicles by High Chief Raymond Dokpesi to HRH, George Egabor who in turn handed them over to the Area Commander, Baba Tijani.
